Saturday 7th July – Bike **** Viking Trail, Tunstall Forest – sunny and hot :)

10 miles covered, 1 hour 5 minutes out, 15.55 knot max speed.

Another good night at Sandgalls carpark at the start of the Viking Mountain Bike Trail, sunny start and soon warming up, will this lovely weather ever come to an end???? Both did our exercises, then breakfast and it was surprisingly quiet with only a few mountain bikers and one trailer with horses plus some dog walkers taking their dogs out when it was way too hot:( I was keen to give the trail one more go before we went home but Mag was not keen so stayed in the van. After two hot days on the bike I was a little tired but soon got going in the shade of the beautiful forest and whizzed around in 1 hour 5 minutes which I was pleased with considering how hot it was! Mag made one of her lovely salads then we packed up and headed the 22 miles home. With a phone signal now, David Coles said he was going to try windsurfing The Manor as it had picked up yesterday afternoon so I dropped in there on the way home. It looked light and onshore a good Formula day but I decided to give it a try, anything other than watch another dull football match! We quickly unloaded the van and I headed down to The Dip as it was easier to park. The onshore wind looked very light but I rigged 9.4 for my longboard, dozed on the beach then listened to the second half of the England game before packing up and heading home without getting wet! Even David on his foil didn’t get going which makes you think that you can get going in under 8 knots seem a bit of an exaggeration? So still not sure if I want a foil or not???? Checked Ernie and we are not millionaires just another £25 still can’t complain:)
